Before you start creating your website, you need to design it. The design of your website will be the key to success. The first thing you need to consider is what do you intend to do with your website. Do you want to sell items through your website? Do you want to provide information about your offline business products and services? Do you want to showcase family photos for your friends and family? These and other possibilities need to be considered, because this will impact how your website looks and functions.

How do you want your visitors to move through your website? Do you want them to come to your home page then go to the other pages in a specific order? Do you want your visitor to be able to come to your website on specific pages only? Do you want to limit access to certain pages of your website for specific family and friends only? Do you want to limit access to your website to only employees of your business? There are many reasons for limiting access to information on your website or on specific webpages. These things need to be considered before you start creating your website.

Internet Marketers will typically bring visitors to specific webpages called squeeze pages. The whole purpose of a squeeze page is to get the name and email address of your visitor through a double opt-in auto responder service. A double opt-in means the visitor must give consent twice to receive email from you, and it is important to prevent allegations of spam. This also ensures that the visitor gives a valid email address, because the second opt-in comes through the email address they gave.

To get visitors to submit their name and email address, many Internet Marketers will offer an ethical bribe. This should be something that will be of value to the visitor and can be emailed to them or downloaded from a thank you page. You may also find some Internet Marketers using physical items that must be sent to the visitor’s physical address. The goal of the squeeze page is to get the information from the visitor, because they may not buy anything from your website today, but if you have their email address then you can send periodic emails. You can then encourage them to come back and visit your website, send them offers that they may buy, or just to let them know that you have added some more information to your website that they may find useful.

There is a lot of power in having a list of people to send emails to. The biggest reason is that many people need to see an offer 7 times before they buy it. Many Internet Marketers will say that the money is in the list and will give statistics, such as you can make $1 for every person on your list every month. With a good list this amount may be even higher.

The flow of traffic through your website is important and you need to think about how the visitor will get from one page to the next. Having good navigation methods is critical to the success of your website. Therefore you will want to spend some time to consider how you want your visitor to flow through your website, and make a flow chart to illustrate the flow of traffic.

The theme of your website is another consideration when you are still in the designing stage. What is the central topic or theme of your website? What do you want the website to tell your visitor? You need to pick a header graphic, color scheme and fonts for your website. The same theme should be used throughout your website with only a few exceptions. This way your visitor knows that they are still on your website and haven’t been taken somewhere else.

There are many considerations that should be addressed before you actually start making your website or webpages. Where do you start? What software will you need? How much will it cost? I was once like you frustrated at the thought of creating a website and not knowing where to turn or what to do. I can help you learn from my mistakes so you do not need to make them for yourself. I can point you in the right direction to either do the job yourself or to know how to get it done for you.

On June 10, 2008 I will be unveiling a new product that I am putting the finishing touches on right now. The title is “How to Build a Website: A Step by Step Guide to Creating an Internet Marketing Website.” This product will come with some great bonuses. One bonus is my personal resources that I use to create my own websites. This has links that you can use to access the tools you need to build your website and make it work. There are many free tools available that you can download and use yourself. These resources are invaluable and I personally could not get the job done with out them.

June 10, 2008 will be here before you know it. Check back tomorrow and find out some more useful information. I will also explain about more features of my guide and the bonuses that will come with it. See you tomorrow!

I wish you success in all of your business ventures and in your every day life too.

Sincerely,

Jim Van Dyke
