I am sure you are like most people that are trying to make money online. You are probably wondering how to get started. You may be wondering what you need and where to get what you need to get started.

Find a Niche

The very first place to start is to decide what you want to do. You must decide what you are going to sell before you can sell it. Even if you decide to sell other people’s products, you still need to focus on a specific product type. If you try to sell a broad variety of products then you will be spreading yourself too thin.

You can select a niche based on the things that you know, are good at, and like to do. Everyone has something that they are passionate about or like to do. Take a step back and look at your situation. What do people associate you with? What do people come to you for help or advice about? It is very important to find something that you like to do, because you will likely spend a lot of time doing it and it helps if you like to do it.

Get an Online Presence

The best way to get an online presence is to get your own website. A web hosting account does not cost as much as you may think, in fact this service costs a whole lot less then it did just a few years back. I personally use and recommend IX Web Hosting and Site 5 Web Hosting. You can use any service that you wish and can find many more by doing a Google search for “web hosting” or “web host”.

It is also possible to get FREE web hosting through various companies. You can find many companies that offer FREE web hosting by doing a Google searching for “free web hosting” or “free web host”. You will not have as much flexibility with a FREE account and the web hosting company will likely place advertisements on your webpages. In most cases you will not get any of the money that is made through the advertisement links and these links may take your hard earned visitors anyway from your website. I do not recommend this for obvious reasons.

You Need an AutoResponder!

This is the most important part of Internet Marketing! You must have an AutoResponder! Many Internet Marketers will tell you that “power is in the List!” What is a List? Your list is the names and email addresses of people that have opted in to receive email messages from you. The AutoResponder service provides a very easy way for you to build your list through a double opt in. A visitor signs up for your email messages and supplies their name and email address.

I personally use and recommend GetResponse AutoResponder service. You can use any service that you want and can find a few by doing a Google search for “autoresponder service” or “autoresponder”. There is another option to get scripts to host your AutoResponder on your web hosting server, but this is not recommended. If someone decides to complain to your web hosting company about spam, then you could loose your web hosting account. It is much better to use an external service for this.
